Striking gold in JMU research lab

Hands-on research, professor-student collaboration, cross-disciplinary opportunities — all define the Madison Experience. Imagine, though, a college experience including the opportunity to research and discover a scientific breakthrough for a multitude of industries from biomedicine to computer chip manufacturers.

It happened in JMU's summer Research Experience for Undergraduates program when student research was successful in getting gold film to adhere to plastics. The discovery has led to a provisional patent application filing for the process.
