Kiplinger's Names JMU as a 'Best Values' Public University

News

James Madison University ranks 19th in Kiplinger's Personal Finance's 2011 list of the 100 Best Values in Public Colleges, bettering its 2010 ranking of 21st.

The Kiplinger analysis ranks four-year institutions that deliver a stellar education at an affordable price, according to the personal finance magazine. Schools on the list were selected from a pool of more than 500 public colleges and universities and were ranked according to academic quality, including admission and retention rates, student-faculty ratios, and four- and six-year graduation rates, as well as on cost and financial aid.

JMU ranked 28th in Kiplinger's 2009 survey and 22nd in the 2008 report.

The annual rankings appear in Kiplinger's February 2011 issue, which is available online at http://www.kiplinger.com/tools/colleges
