2010 April Publication Dr. Diane C. Lending Dr. Diane C. Lending (Associate Professor, Computer Information Systems and Management Science) wrote "Using a Wiki to Collaborate on a Study Guide," which was published in the Journal of Information Systems Education, Vol. 21(1). 04
2010 April Publication Dr. J. Peter Pham Dr. J. Peter Pham (Associate Professor, Justice Studies, Political Science and Africana Studies) wrote "Iran's Threat to the Strait of Hormuz: A Realist Assessment," which was published in the journal American Foreign Policy Interests. Pham wrote a review of "The Persian Night: Iran under the Khomeinist Revolution," by Amir Taheri for the same journal. He also wrote an essay "Anti-Piracy, Adrift," which was published in the spring 2010 issue of the Journal of International Security Affairs. Pham wrote a chapter, "Nigeria's Foreign Policy: An Inquiry into Sources and Prospects," published in "The EU and Africa: In Search of Strategic Partnership," a book edited by Professor Manuela Franco, the former minister of foreign affairs of Portugal. The book was published by the Portuguese Institute of International Relations. Pham wrote an article, 'Not Another Failed State: Toward a Realistic Solution in the Western Sahara,' which was published in the first issue of the Journal of the Middle East and Africa in April. He also wrote a review essay on 'Somaliland: An African Struggle for Nationhood and International Recognition' by Iqbal D. Jhazbhay for the new journal. Pham is the founding editor-in-chief of the journal, the first refereed publication to cover both the entire continent of Africa and the Greater Middle East region. The Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa publishes the new journal. 04
2010 April Service Dr. Harry L. Reif Dr. Harry L. Reif (Associate Professor, Computer Information Systems and Management Science) was reappointed to a third term as a commissioner to the ABET Computing Accreditation Commission. Reif is one of 50 commissioners of the international accreditation body. 04
2010 April Service Dr. James M. Shaeffer Dr. James M. Shaeffer (Associate Vice Provost, Outreach and Engagement) was named president-elect of the University Continuing Education Association at the professional organization's 95th annual conference in April. Shaeffer has served on the association's board of directors for more than 10 years and has been UCEA's treasurer since 2006. 04
