The Madison Scholar is a journal that aims to convey the special nature of scholarly activity at James Madison University. Madison professors are unusually collaborative with their colleagues and their students. This willingness to involve others and to suffuse classrooms with the practical testing of ideas creates a lively intellectual environment on the JMU campus. It also equips Madison undergraduates with a more practical understanding of the concepts taught in classrooms. Often they graduate with a firmer grasp of their fields than do students without this experience.
