What is Learning Strategies Instruction?
Learning Strategies Instruction provides individualized, student-centered, academic coaching designed to increase student success. The diverse range of undergraduate and graduate students we serve will be motivated to achieve individual goals by becoming self-regulated learners and building academic and personal self-efficacy.
Some Strategies for this Semester:
- Know what is expected of you in each class.
- Take notes, keep a planner, and make to-do lists for each class.
- Establish a routine time to study for each class.
- Try to spend two hours studying for each hour spent in class.
- Establish a place to study that is free of distractions.
- Try to be productive throughout the day.
- Take advantage of long periods in between classes.
- Take study breaks.
- A ten minute break after an hour of studying will keep things fresh.
- Find at least one or two students in each class to study with.
- Work on harder subjects at a time when you are fresh.
- Find a healthy balance between school and other area of your life.
