As we prepare to welcome the class of 2012 to JMU this fall we invite you to shape these students’ first experiences through two exciting “1787” August Orientation programs scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008: Conversations with Professors and First Year Reading.
Conversations with Professors (co-sponsored by the Center for Faculty Innovation), offered on Aug. 21 from 9:45-11 a.m., is a faculty led discussion about expectations for a successful college experience. All faculty members are invited to lead a session. To learn more visit: http://www.jmu.edu/orientation/faculty/
First Year Reading, offered on Aug.21 from 1-2:30 p.m., is a unique opportunity to reflect with students on important themes through discussion of this year’s reading selection: Federalist 10. All faculty and staff members are invited to lead a session. To learn more about Federalist 10 and First Year Reading visit: http://www.jmu.edu/orientation/faculty/
Both of these opportunities allow JMU faculty and staff to get immediately involved and connected with new students in a meaningful way.
Not sure about leading a session? Need more details? Attend an introduction session to find out if facilitating is for you. Led by veteran facilitators, these sessions will take the mystery out of these events and help you decide.
