Develop Discipline-Specific Writing Skills in Your Students

From: Center for Faculty Innovation (CFI)

Do you use writing assignments in your course? Do you believe that students can learn course material in your discipline by engaging in the writing process? If you answered yes to these questions, then we designed this workshop for YOU!

Participants in this session will consider options for using student writing during regular class sessions to learn course concepts. Two JMU faculty members will present activities that will encourage students to consider research sources, course content, and the purposes and audiences for their writing in new ways. Participants will also consider the writing assignments they present to students and ways they might infuse the writing process into their regular class meetings.
