JMU Professor Explores State of Education in Middle East on Radio Show

Dr. Karim Altaii, professor of integrated science and technology at James Madison University, will be a guest on “With Good Reason” Monday, July 12. The segment titled “Arab Defamation in Film” will air locally at 7 p.m. Monday on public radio station WMRA (90.7 FM).

For a portion of the program, Altaii will focus on the destruction of the previously advanced higher-education systems in the Middle East. Altaii will discuss how Iraqi education systems have been destroyed by the assassinations of professors, bombs, looting and neglect. Altaii is currently in Iraq working on capacity building – especially in higher education.

The public radio show will also feature Jack Shaheen, author and media critic, and Hanadi Al-Samman of the University of Virginia.
