English Transition Program Starts

International students who meet James Madison University's academic admissions requirements but need more English proficiency have a new resource on campus – the English Transition Program – beginning in fall 2009.

Run by Study Group, global experts in university preparation and international education, the program is for students who need additional English language training before they begin university-level study.

Most students will participate in the new program for one year, although some students may need only one semester of English transition before they present evidence of English proficiency.

The program is open to qualified freshmen, transfer and graduate students for matriculation in the fall or spring semesters.

For more information about the transition program, students and faculty can contact Shaun Mooney in the Office of Admissions at mooneyms@jmu.edu.
