Then come check out the events going on during JMU’s first ever Post-Conflict Recovery Week! JMU has on its own campus departments and public policy centers which provide significant resources and research in this field. Monday, April 6:
- Film Screening, Disarm, http://www.disarmfilm.org/. HHS 2301, 8p.m.
Tuesday, April 7:
- Demonstration by the U.S. Department of Defense’s Humanitarian Demining Training Center (HDTC): HDTC will conduct a landmine clearance demonstration on the Festival lawn. Representatives will be there during the hours of 12:00-4:00. Demining demonstrations will be at 12:30 and 2 p.m.

Wednesday, April 8:
- A discussion about US conventional weapons destruction policy and programs led by Col. Yori Escalante, Deputy Director of Programs from the U.S. Department of State Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement. Miller 1101, 7:00pm
Thursday, April 9:
- Speech by Dr. Ken Rutherford: Dr. Rutherford is co-founder of Landmine Survivor’s Network, and is an activist in the global movement to ban landmines and cluster munitions. Festival Ballrooms B and C, 7:00pm
Monday, April 13:
- Speech by Dr. Adam Kushner: Dr. Kushner is a surgeon who has worked in many war-affected countries around the world training and collaborating with local hospital staffs. Most recently he has been working on a mission sponsored by the Society of International Humanitarian Surgeons in Sierra Leone. Miller 1101, 7:00pm
