Friday, Dec. 12 Parking Restrictions

Parking Services would like to advise faculty, staff and students of the following changes to JMU Parking restrictions on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 due to the Football Playoff Game:

Lots G and P are closed to Faculty and Staff parking beginning at 6:00 AM on Friday, Dec. 12. Normal parking restrictions will resume at midnight on Friday. Faculty and staff are encouraged to utilize alternative surface lots, the Champions Drive Parking Deck or the Warsaw Avenue Parking Deck. Access to the Champions Drive Parking Deck will be limited to individuals with football game-day passes after 4:00 PM.

Students, Faculty and Staff using the Champions Drive Parking Deck must vacate the deck no later than 5:30 PM to allow parking by individuals with football game-day passes. Vehicles in reserved lots without appropriate football game-day passes will be ticketed and towed beginning at 1:00 PM.

Limited access to the JMU Bookstore, including students interested in the book buy-back program, will be available at metered parking in G Lot until 5:00 PM.

Handicap parking will continue be available in lots G and P throughout the day.

Parking for individuals with football game-day passes will be available beginning at 3:00 PM in all reserved lots with the exception of the Champions Drive Parking Deck. The Champions Drive Parking Deck will be available for access to season ticket holders with Deck passes beginning at 6:00 PM.

Resident students who will be attending the football game have until 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 13 to check out of their residence halls. Those students being picked up from residence halls on Friday, December 12 should take the following information into account:


  • Vehicles picking up residents of Eagle, Shorts and Chandler Halls will be directed to the Chandler Bus Lane.

  • Vehicles picking up residents in the Village area may utilize available Resident and Commuter lots.

  • Vehicles accessing these areas on Friday will be asked to leave within 30 minutes.

  • Students being picked up from these areas on Friday are encouraged to make arrangements to do so no later than 4:30 PM in order to minimize traffic congestion.

  • Traffic in and around the JMU campus will be heavy on Friday, especially in the late afternoon and early evening. Please allow additional time to find available parking.
