ISNW Invites Applications for Committee Positions

From: Public Affairs

The recently formed JMU Institute for Stewardship of the Natural World (ISNW) will facilitate JMU's pursuit of sustainability, environmental stewardship and a broader sense of citizenship.

The ISNW invites all interested JMU citizens to apply to serve on one of the five ISNW committees:

Awareness - Develop programs and approaches to share knowledge and information that promote personal and cultural change for faculty, staff and students.

Education & Research - Promote curricular development across disciplines and general education, as well as research opportunities to engage faculty, staff, students and the community in improving our environment.

Operations - Review how the university manages such areas as grounds, the physical plant, waste and recycling to incorporate stewardship practices that will improve the environment and our community.

Campus Accessibility - Review the transportation, parking and motor pool issues and opportunities.

Policies & Practices - Review university policies and recommend changes that will impact stewardship, as well as current university practices in areas such as dining, procurement and housekeeping.

Interested participants should send their name, title, department, e-mail, phone, which committee(s) they are interested in and a brief statement of interest to stewardship@jmu.edu. The application deadline is November 17, 2008. Committee membership will be announced by the beginning of Spring Semester.
