JMU's Six-Year Institutional Plan to meet
SCHEV's Institutional Performance Standards

 

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, in cooperation with the public 2- and 4-year institutions, developed institutional performance standards to address state-wide priorities: access, affordability, academic offerings, academic standards, student progress and success, economic development, research, enhancing K-12 education.
Institutions that meet these performance standards will be granted greater management, curricular and fiscal autonomy.

Here is JMU's Six-Year Institutional Plan for meeting these standards. The goals are color coded: Red are goals of primary priority, blue for secondary priority and green are tertiary priority.

SCHEV GOAL 1

Access: Provide access to higher education    

  • Target underrepresented populations

  • Expand Centennial Scholars Program (CSP) – which is a diversity enhancement initiative

  • Enhance JMU’s Guaranteed Admission Agreements by developing articulated advising protocols that provide curricular guidance for community college students and result in more efficient transfer directly into selected majors

  • Permit students who qualify for guaranteed admission to JMU through agreements with VCCS institutions to be advised and registered at JMU during the semester in which they will complete the approved associate degree

  • Examine the impact of current VCCS agreements on enrollment and determine the extent to which new agreements should be created

  • Explore opportunities for increasing JMU’s capacity to offer dual enrollment opportunities in targeted high school programs

  • Study the progress and achievement of VCCS transfer students following their transfer to James Madison University and share this information with JMU academic units as well as with the community colleges to assist in advising and enrollment management
