Calling all plant lovers and would-be-green-thumb-aficionados;
Welcome to the Second annual JM-U Appreciation Day Plant Swap!
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at cultivating a plant you've never before encountered? Or maybe you've been suffering from plant envy, induced by that plant in your neighbor's yard but can't bring yourself to ask them for a "start" or "cutting" from? Better yet, maybe you're new to gardening, and you have mastered the art of growing things that don't survive and now you need some new recruits? You've come to the right place.
The JM-U Appreciation Day Plant Swap is an opportunity for you to share your wealth of gardening know-how and plants with your fellow JMU employees. Bring a plant, or two, or three (or as many as you can fit in your vehicle!) to ground level of HHS from 1:00pm ~ 4:30pm and browse the vast selection of what is sure to be the envy of any gardener. Indoor/outdoor, annuals/perennials, sun loving/shade loving (even seeds, bulbs and cuttings)...bring em' all, the more the merrier.
Don't have a plant to share (or you forget to bring one)? Not a problem, we're asking everyone to bring extras to share so that everyone who wants a plant can get one...nobody leaves without a plant! Your plants or cuttings should be in a bag or container that you are willing to part with. Oh yeah, don't forget the dirt! Labels and/or pictures are also appreciated.
Other ground rules that we shouldn't have to mention, but just to be sure:
No weeds; anybody can grow those
No itchy stuff (poison ivy, poison oak, etc.); practical jokes aside...it hurts!
No dead plants; we'd rather have silk plants than dead ones!
No critters; it's a good way to sabotage your neighbors garden
No illegal plants; need we say more
Need more information? Call Jane Beach (86671).
Remember its first come first served! So get there early if you want to get that special one-of-a-kind variety! Expert gardeners will be on hand to answer questions.
Happy Gardening!
