Message From The President

You are invited to take part in JM-U Appreciation Day on Thursday, May 14, 2009. You each contribute to the success of the university every day by making a difference in the lives of our students, parents, alumni and colleagues. JM-U Appreciation Day is one opportunity to say "Thank You" for your role in making James Madison University an exceptional institution.

Thanks to the creativity of the Employee Appreciation Day committee, this year's program will have a fresh look. We will be hosting a breakfast event at the JMU Convocation Center with serving lines opening at 7:30am and remaining open until 10:00am. At 8:30, the Employee Appreciation Day committee has invited comedian magician Erick Olson to take the stage and challenge us to grin with the same quick wit, which has entertained audiences at Walt Disney World and America's Got Talent.

Following the Convocation Center program, there are a number of engaging activities lined up for you to participate in. I hope you enjoy this day and continue to build lasting relationships with your colleagues across the JMU campus. This day is about celebrating our community.

Event Details

JMU Appreciation Day 2009 will be featuring a new format for this year's event. As a result of feedback received, and to better accommodate all members of the JMU Community, the activities for the day have been shifted to the morning.

Breakfast will be served at the JMU Convocation Center beginning at 7:30am through 10:00am. Enjoy Comedian Magician Erick Olson at the Convocation Center beginning at 8:30am, after a brief welcome message from Dr. Warner.

After enjoying breakfast and Erick Olson, employees will be able to participate in many events, including karaoke, bingo at the Festival, UREC activities, and the movie Marley & Me at Grafton-Stovall.
