Sharing Our Resources

Education & Service Outreach

At James Madison University we pride ourselves for our three-tiered focus: education, research and public service. Because providing quality educational experiences for our students is foremost, U.S. News & World Report's ranking of our undergrad research opportunities means we're meeting that goal. Then, our citizens' guides fill out the focus by adding the public service feature.

Holding its regional place for the 13th straight year as the South's top public, master's-level university, James Madison University also takes a top national spot for offering its undergraduates solid experience in research and creative projects in the annual "U.S. News & World Report" 2007 America's Best Colleges guide. Citizens' Guides

As a way to thank the Congressmen who have helped with our funding, IIIA releases a new citizens' guide each year on an issue of homeland security that directly affects our Shenandoah Valley residents.

Visit this page to review the various guides already released and those in production.

Risk Communication Web Library

We have compiled an Internet library containing various research reports focusing on the many facets of homeland security and emergency preparedness including: risk communication, psychology, bio-terrorism, and health issues. There are also two sections containing nuclear risk communication and shelter-in-place strategy materials.

Visit the Web Library page and simply click on the headings to display the documents. These copies can be accessed directly from the Internet for download or printing. In addition, IIIA welcomes any student or professor to visit our library in ISAT 231, which houses the documents in hard copy format and many other resources dealing with homeland security and cyber security issues. Check back for updates.
