Stock Farm Club
F&B Intern


The Club was established in 1998 by Co-founder Charles Schwab as a Montana destination retreat. Currently the membership measures in at 296 with approximately 45 that are residents of the Bitterroot Valley. This allows for very personalized service to both our resident members along with those that venture up only a few times a year. The golf course is a championship caliber design by Tom Fazio along with a vibrant golf learning center that offers any number of lessons for both members and guests. The Club’s dining room is in the center of the action during the summer months with food crafted and created by Chef Toby McCrackin and a dedicated group of professionals both in the front and back of the house. The membership has a one of a kind wine cellar to chose from with over 6,000 bottles ranging from First Growth Bordeaux’s to close by Washington State wines. Food and Beverage outlets include the newly constructed pool pavilion, golf course snack shack, men’s and women’s locker rooms, weekly BBQ’s, and the dining room which is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Other amenities at the Club include: 24 hour fitness center, multi-use pool, fly fishing casting pond, equestrian center, 30 cabins available to members that do not own home sites, and miles upon miles of trails for backcountry expeditions.

The internship we are searching for currently would be food and beverage related.

Inova Health System
Event Management Intern
Note: unpaid position


Do you enjoy the excitement and pressure associated with special events? The Inova Health System Foundation is pleased to offer the Event Management Internship Program. This experience will provide the opportunity to assist the Special Events Department and the Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children Development staff with a variety of fundraisers, golf tournaments and receptions, in particular, its annual Gala (2008 projected goal: $1.6 million with approximately 800 attendees). In addition, our intern will learn valuable skills in event coordination, time management, multi-tasking and communication, as well as gain an understanding of not-for-profit fundraising. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the maintenance of database management documenting participation, attendance, financial support and special needs.
  • Track incoming interest and requests for sponsorship and live and silent auctions.
  • Support in the coordination of collateral materials including such items as: invitations, event programs, nametags, table assignments, marketing materials, etc.
  • Assist with preparation and reporting for committee meetings.
  • Assist with mailings, donor cultivation events and marketing of the Foundation.
Qualifications:
  • Competency in Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Strong conceptual skills for use in developing/maintaining database applications
  • Ability to use discretion in handling sensitive/confidential information
  • Must be able to work effectively as a key support member
  • Must be precise, alert and attentive to details
Schedule and Compensation:
  • 20-40 hrs/week

Dining Services Intern


BRC is seeking a Dining Services Intern who would work in our independent living facility: Houff Center. This part of our operation operates restaurant style and we also have a full service catering operation (no alcohol), which serves residents, staff, and the public. We are in the process of upgrading our computer software to C-bord products (Ithaca,NY) for the entire foodservice operation. Basic duties include joining the team for wine festival weekends in various locations across Virginia. At the festivals the employee will be pouring wine samples for patrons and may also have cashier duties. Food, travel, and overnight expenses will be covered/reimbursed through the company. Supervisory Intern

QUALIFICATIONS - Significant experience in the hospitality industry, persuing a degree in the hospitality industry or persuing a career in private clubs. Should possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time, must have good knowledge of quality service standards, must be honest and trustworthy, must be self motivated, should have basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office software, must be capable of maintaining composure and professionalism during busy/stressful times, must be confident with a strong sense of responsibility.

SUMMARY - Provide management assistance with the coordination and operation of food and beverage activities by implementing and following through with systems that will improve the staff, Club services, processes and overall member satisfaction.

The Supervisory Intern will set the example for all areas as outlined and maintain a professional, business profile while acting as a Chevy Chase Club representative. He/She will assist in all areas as assigned, promoting the “Team Work” effort and maintaining the high standards of the Chevy Chase Club. He/She will be highly visible and interact with the membership as much as possible.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with management and operational procedures.
  • Supervise the execution of Private Parties, Club Functions and Ala Carte Dining operations.
  • Work together with all F & B management staff to ensure proper communications, consistent policies, service standards, quality control, etc. are being followed by the service staff.
  • Assist with training new and current F & B staffs.
  • Help conduct F & B inventories.
  • Maintain par-levels in assigned F & B departments.
  • Review all BEO’s and ensure instructions are clear and feasible.
  • Help create and implement employee incentives and motivational programs.
  • Learn to conduct F & B weekly payroll.
  • Learn to conduct F & B weekly schedules.
  • Gain a working knowledge of financial statements and the budget process.
  • Exceed membership expectations of food service quality.
  • Engage in proper member relations and communications.
  • Engage in proper relations and communications with other departments.
  • Actively participate in weekly food and beverage meetings.
  • Completion of management projects as assigned by the Catering Director, the Banquet Manager, the Dining Room Manager, the Service Director, the Beverage Manager, the Winter Center Manager or the Executive Clubhouse Manager.
  • The Supervisory Intern will learn how the F & B department interacts with all other Club departments ensuring their F & B needs are met (i.e. Golf & Tennis Tournaments etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.
