Accreditation

PHOTO: PA Students The PA program is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. . Accreditation provides graduates eligibility to take the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE). Successful completion of the PANCE is required for graduates to be licensed to practice.

The JMU PA Program is a fairly young program.  It has graduated  eight classes of students. The table below shows the pass rates on the PANCE Exam for the most recent five classes for which numbers are available. Because the JMU PA Program has relatively small numbers of students enrolled in each class, a single failure greatly changes the percentage.

Year Pass rate for first-time takers
2003 94%
2004 85%
2005 94%
2006 89%
2007 90%
