Foreign Language Placement Exam - Preview Only

First, Check your Browser: Use Internet Explorer v 6.0 or above, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari 1.2. The built-in AOL browser will NOT work. Make sure that JavaScript is turned on.
1.Log In In this step you won't be using your JMU password. Enter the Password that is on the Foreign Language Placement Exam page instead.
2.Choose an Exam Choose which exam you need to take by pulling down the box by the word "Language" and selecting French, Spanish, or German. Then click on the button labeled "Begin" If you need to take a Russian exam, you'll need to go to the Language Lab in Keezell 103 and take the exams there. 3. Enter Your Information Enter in your First Name, Last Name, JMU Student Number and JMU E-mail. Do NOT put your Social Security number in the "ID Number" blank. When you have finished entering your information, click the button marked "Continue" on the bottom of the page.
4.Take the Exam To choose a response, click one of the gray boxes marked "A" "B" "C" or "D." Then click the button marked "Submit Answer." A new question will then appear.
5. Your Results When you have completed the exam, your results will be shown on the screen. You should print out or save this screen for your records. To retrieve your score later, return to the foreign language placement exam page at https://secureweb.jmu.edu/flpe#retrieve and follow the instructions. If you need to retrieve your results later, follow steps 1 -3, but click the button labeled "Resume" instead of "Continue." Your results will appear on the screen again.
