Scholarship History: |
Established by Dr. Cecil D. Bradfield '68, in February 1999. Dr. Bradfield was born and raised in rural West Virginia. He is the youngest of five children and the only one to graduate from high school and go to college. He attended Capital University, Trinity Lutheran Seminary, received his M.A. from Madison College in 1968 and his doctorate in sociology from American University in 1975. In 1971 he joined Madison College as a professor of sociology. He also served as the Director of Aging and Family Studies and was a founding coordinator of the JMU Elderhostel. He created the Intergenerational Internet Project in 1997 to promote an exchange of ideas, experience and perspective between the older and younger generations. He was named Faculty Emeritus in 2000 upon his retirement. He has been the recipient of the James Madison Distinguished Alumni Service Award and the Dolley Madison Award for Community Enhancement. |
