Scholarship History: |
The Carole Jan Gorry Memorial Scholarship was established by Nancy Gorry Craft '73, in August 1985 in memory of her sister Carole Jan Gorry '64. Carole Gorry had a BS in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from Madison College. When she died in March 1985, she was the deputy director of administrative services at the Department of Energy. Carole graduated from Fall Church High School, and after her graduation from Madison, worked as a secretary to the U.S. ambassador to Chile for 4 years. From 1968 to 1973 she was an executive assistant to the president and board chairman of the Stanwick Corporation, an Arlington consulting firm. She was an executive assistant to vice presidents Gerald R. Ford and Nelson A. Rockefeller from 1973 to 1977. She held organize the Department of Energy and went to work for it in 1977. Carole received the department's Outstanding Service Medal in 1979 and 1981. |
