Established by James A. Dawson in October 1984.  Mr. Dawson is an inventor and a graduate of George Washington University.

Scholarship History:

Established by Dr. Raymond A. Serway, professor of Physics at JMU, and his wife, Elizabeth, in December 1988.  Dr. Serway is a graduate of Utica College of Syracuse University, got his M.S. at the University of Colorado and his Ph.D. at the Illinois Institute of Technology.  Dr. Serway has retired from the university and now is a writer and editor of physics books for Harcourt College Publishing.
