Hispanic Scholarship Fund
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is the nation's leading organization supporting Hispanic higher education. Founded in 1975, HSF's vision is to strengthen the country by advancing college education among Hispanic Americans. During its 30-year history, HSF has awarded more than 73,000 in excess of $170 million to Hispanic students who have attended more than 1,700 colleges. Awards range from $1,000 to $2,500.
Eligibility:
- Be of Hispanic heritage
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired)
- Minimum 3.00 cumulative gpa required on a 4.00 scale (or the equivalent)
- Must apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
College Scholarship Program:
- Be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full-time in a degree seeking program at a U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam
- Must have completed 12 units at a U.S. accredited institution

APHL/CDC EID Laboratory Fellowship
The Emerging Infectious Diseases
(EID) Laboratory Fellowship Program prepares laboratory scientists
for careers in public health. The two-track program (training and
research) emphasizes the practical application of technologies,
methodologies and practices related to emerging infectious
diseases.

NDU-Lebanon Scholarship for Students in the USA
This scholarship provides an
opportunity for one qualified American student to study abroad at
NDU, Lebanon for one semester. The $3000 scholarship will be in the
form of free tuition and lodging during the academic semester. The
recipient is responsible for all transportation costs to and from
the US and Beirut, Lebanon.

Suntrust Off to College Scholarship
High school seniors can win a $1,000 scholarship for first year expenses at an accredited college or private career school, plus a $250 SunTrust Gift Card. There are fifteen chances to win with one winner being chosen every two weeks from October 31, 2006, through May 11, 2007. Winner's school of attendance will also receive $1,000. RFCA Educational Foundation
Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates
Educational Foundation (Charlottesville, VA) was formed in 2000 to
provide scholarship or grant funds for students of the professions
including accounting, law, medicine and engineering and students
who have an interest in a career in governmental service, public
administration or public service in Virginia. With the cost of
higher education on the rise, the Foundation aims to aid successful
students in achieving affordable educations.

The Sallie Mae 911 Education Fund Scholarship Program
The Sallie Mae 911 Education Fund was created in response to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The scholarship program is open to children of those who were killed or permanently disabled as a result of the terrorist attacks, and who are enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at approves, accredited institutions. Scholarship awards of up to $2,500 per application, per school year, are available and may be renewed on an annual basis, subject to satisfactory academic progress.

Last year the Hispanic College Fund awarded $2.4 million to over 600 students nationwide. HCF Scholars not only benefit from funding, but also from joining a powerful network of HCF Scholars, corporate executives and government leaders vested in developing the next generation of Hispanic professionals. HCF Scholars include some of the nation's top college students studying business, finance, engineering and the sciences. Through the HCF network, students have started careers at companies like Lockheed Martin, Estee Lauder Companies and Sallie Mae. All students must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria. The National Defense Intelligence College
The Defense Intelligence Scholars Program provides recent graduates and entry level professionals seeking a career in intelligence an opportunity to obtain a quality education to get their career off to a quick start. The program includes a paid internship, year long studies leading to a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence (MSSI) degree, and conditional employment with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). Scholars receive a salary and government benefits throughout the entire program.
Eligibility
Criteria
All qualified individuals are eligible for this
program. Minorities, women, and individuals with disabling
conditions are strongly encouraged to apply. Current DIA employees
are not eligible. Specific requirements include:
· A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution;
· A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution;
· Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent at the time of application;
· Recommended scores for the GRE are 500 on the verbal portion and a 4.5 on the analytic writing portion of the GRE. No other test scores may be substituted for the GRE. Scores over 5 years old will not be accepted. The GRE requirement will not be waived for applicants for this program.
· U.S.citizenship of applicant and all members of the immediate family. (All students selected for the program are required to satisfactorily complete a security background investigation. Holders of dual citizenship are not eligible for security clearances.)
· Drug screening test will be administered to finalists.
· All applicants conditionally accepted for this program and all DIA employees are subject to initial and periodic counterintelligence (CI)-scope polygraph tests.
Applicants will be evaluated on academic background and aptitude, analytical ability, written communication skills and demonstrated leadership. Proficiency in Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Urdu, Farsi, Dari, or Pashto will greatly enhance application.

Rolling Admission Process
Applications to enroll in fall 2008 may be submitted anytime. Applications that are complete, including GRE scores, byNovember 30, 2007 will be considered for fall 2008 enrollment at the JMIC. Applicants will be notified of decision by March 31, 2008. Selected Scholars will report to work at the agency once security clearance is received, but will not enroll in the College until fall 2008.

2008-09 Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Scholarships
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi's ongoing commitment to excellence is reflected in its scholarships and awards programs. More than $700,000 is awarded each year to outstanding Phi Kappa Phi members and chapters through the Society's various awards competitions: the Fellowship, Phi Kappa Phi Scholar & Artist, Emerging Scholar Awards, Study Abroad Grants, Literacy Grants, and Love of Learning.
Phi Kappa Phi sets high standards for its award recipients. Selection committees comprised of representatives from each of the Society's five regions carefully review all applications. Applicants are evaluated based on numerous factors, including academic recognition and awards, campus and community involvement, leadership experiences, and quality and scope of proposed program.

Fellowship Programs at The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Fellowship Program at The Metropolitan Museum of Art offers graduate students and senior scholars from the United States and around the world the opportunity to undertake study and research related to their work in art history, archaeology, and art conservation, either at the Museum or abroad.
Possible fields of research for art history candidates include Western art; Asian art; the arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas; antiquities; arms and armor; costumes; drawings; illuminated manuscripts; paintings; photographs; sculpture; and textiles. Some fellowships for travel abroad are also available for students whose projects involve firsthand examination of paintings in major European collections.
Conservation and scientific research fellows may work with paintings, textiles, musical instruments, costumes, paper, or objects (including sculpture, metalwork, glass, ceramics, furniture, and archaeological objects). Applicants for the conservation and scientific research fellowships should have reached an advanced level of experience or training.
A two-year research scholarship in photograph conservation is offered in alternate years. Applicants for this position are expected to have a graduate degree in conservation or equivalent experience and should be completely committed to the conservation of photographs as their area of specialization.

2008 National Federation of the Blind Scholarships
The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) has a large scholarship program whose awards are made solely to persons who are legally blind. Each year at its National Convention in July, the NFB awards 30 scholarships based on scholastic excellence, financial need and community service. These scholarships range from $3000 to $12,000. Those who have previously applied are encouraged to apply again. It is the intention of the NFB to award at least three scholarships to men and women who have already received one Federation scholarship in the past.

2008-09 John Gyles Education Awards
John Gyles Education Awards are available each year to students in both Canada and the United States. They are the result of a private, benevolent endeavor established in 1990. Those selected will receive up to $3,000. No preference is given to students from either country. Several scholarships are awarded directly to students and a list of recipients is available at the end of each calendar year.
Eligibility:
· Citizenship in either Canada or the United States
· Enrolled full-time at (or accepted to) a college or university program as an undergraduate or graduate student. (High school seniors may apply pending acceptance.)
· Minimum GPA of 2.7

The Fund for Theological Education
The Fund for Theological Education offers Undergraduate Fellowships enabling students to explore whether becoming a minister might be a fit for their lives. Since 1954, the Atlanta-based Fund has awarded nearly 6,000 fellowships in partnership with others committed to quality leadership for the church. The Undergraduate Fellowship is a program for rising juniors and seniors nominated by college faculty and administrators. Fellows attend a Conference on Excellence in Ministry with peers asking the same questions and receive a $2,000 stipend to use for educational expenses or exploration of ministry.

2008 ISA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
ISA Educational Foundation Scholarships are awarded to college or university students who demonstrate outstanding potential for long-range contribution to the fields of automation and control. The scholarship awards support tuition and related expenses and research activities and initiatives. ISA awards scholarships from both the ISA Educational Foundation Scholarship fund and funds provided through endowments of generous gifts from supporters. The scholarship program includes awards from various categories.
Eligibility:
All Applicants Must:
- Currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in an instrumentation, systems, or automation discipline (2 year program or 4 year baccalaureate program or its equivalent) at an educational institution in their country of residence.
- Two year program applicants must have completed at least one academic semester or 12 semester hours or its equivalent.
- Four year degree program applicants must be in their sophomore year or higher of their study or its equivalent at the time of application
- Applicants must be full-time students in an educational institution and have at least an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Preference for Foundation scholarship awards is given to students who are enrolled in a degree program in instrumentation, systems, and automation or other closely related fields.
- Applicants are eligible to apply and win in multiple years if the applicant meets ISA's requirements for reporting back to ISA on the use of previously granted awards and if the application demonstrates additional potential contribution to the field beyond that for which any previous awards were based.

American Chemical Society Scholars Program
The American Chemical Society sponsors scholarship programs for qualified applicants who want to enter the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering, and students seeking a two-year degree in chemical technology. The programs are designed to encourage African-American, Hispanic, and American Indian students to pursue undergraduate college degrees in the chemical sciences and chemical technology. The goal of these scholarship programs is to aid in building an awareness of the value and the rewards associated with careers in science and to assist students in acquiring the skills and credentials needed for success in these areas. Students interested in two-year chemical technology programs and careers in this field are also eligible. Scholarships will be given up to a maximum of $3,000 per year. The awards in the ACS Scholars Program, as well as those in the co-sponsored programs are renewable.

The Grand Lodge of Virginia will award five scholarships totaling $4,500 in 2008. The amount of the scholarships varies up to $1,000.

2008-09 Sallie Mae Fund Scholarship Programs
The Sallie Mae Fund sponsors several scholarship programs and supports hundreds of college scholarships. All of our programs are based on financial need, as The Fund seeks to bridge the dollar gap when no one else can. With an estimated $3 billion in private scholarships awarded nationally each year, The Fund aims to send the message that money is available to those who make the effort to apply. Since 2001, The Sallie Mae Fund has awarded more than $12.7 million in scholarships to more than 5,000 students. The Sallie Mae Fund provides scholarships through a number of its own programs that address a common barrier to higher education access: financial need. These scholarships include:
American Dream Scholarship
Established in partnership with the United Negro College Fund, the American Dream Scholarship Program is open to African-Americans with financial need. Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000.

First in My Family Scholarship
The First in My Family Scholarship Program, developed in partnership with the Hispanic College Fund, offers scholarships to Hispanic-American students who are the first in their family to attend college and have financial need. Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000.

- Hispanic-Americans who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents
- Enrolled as full time undergraduate students at approved, accredited institutions.
- Minimum of 3.0 GPA
Unmet Need Scholarship
Open to families with a combined income of $30,000 or less, this program is intended to supplement financial aid packages that fall more than $1,000 short of students financial needs. This scholarship is not designed as a substitute for aid provided by an institution. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $3,800.

VirginiaCredit Union 2008-2009 Dorothy J. Hall Scholarship
Each year Virginia Credit Union recognizes outstanding student members through its Dorothy J. Hall Scholarship program. For the 2008-2009 academic year, Virginia Credit Union will award 25 college scholarships in amounts up to $2,500.
Eligibility:
§ Have joined Virginia Credit Union by September 29, 2007
§ Be the primary member of their own account (the first name listed on a VACU account), not just a joint owner on someone else's account
§ Applicant's account must be in good standing
§ Must be a graduating high school senior or a rising college freshman, sophomore, junior or senior who will be taking at least nine credit hours per semester at an accredited college or university.
§ Applicant may be in either an undergraduate program or an associate's degree program at a community college.
§ Minimum of 3.0 GPA
§ Previous winners are not eligible

2008-09 Blankenship/Justice Scholarship
This scholarship was created in 2002 to help children, dependents or disabled coal miners seeking a degree. The Blankenship/Justice Scholarship was named after William M. Blankenship and Adams Justice, who both died in mining accidents.
Eligibility:
§ A child or dependent (including a spouse) of a living or deceased coal miner
§ A disabled coal miner seeking degree
§ Resident or recent high school graduate from the City of Norton, VA, City of Bristol, VA or from the following Virginia counties: Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Tazewell, Washington, and Wise
§ Undergraduate or graduate seeking a degree reasonably related to promotion of mine safety & health
§ High school graduate or GED certified
§ Must have a current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

VAAO "Pistol McMillian" Scholarships
The Virginia Association of Assessing Officers is now accepting applications for the annual VAAO Scholarship Program. Established is 1949, the Virginia Association of Assessing Officers (VAAO) is a professional organization of assessors and appraisers from state and local governments throughout the Commonwealth. This program is an important part of the VAAO's efforts to encourage young men and women to enter the assessment field in Virginia's state and local governments. Scholarship recipients will attend the Virginia Department of Taxation's Advanced Assessors' School June 2 6, 2008 at James Madison University in Harrisonburg , Va.
Scholarships will be awarded to cover all tuition fees, course materials, dormitory housing and meal allowances. Travel expenses will be the responsibility of the recipients.

VA Business and Professional Women's Foundation Career Advancement Sch
The Virginia Business and Professional Women's Foundation was established in 1984 by the members of the Virginia Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW/VA), and organization dedicated to promoting the interests of working women by advocating work life balance for all women. The Foundation helps women to obtain advanced education, furthers the study of women's issues, helps young people plan for self sufficient futures, and helps women start new businesses. The Foundation has awarded more that $6 million in scholarships, grants and loans to over 8,000 women seeking to improve their lives. The Career Advancement Scholarship is the umbrella for three different and distinct scholarships for women.

Henricopolis SWCD Scholarship Program
Each year, Henricopolis SWCD offers three $1,000 scholarships through an endowment with Colonial Agricultural Education Foundation. Two high school seniors and one returning student may be chosen to receive these awards.

Quota International of Harrisonburg Fellowship Program
Quota International, Inc. is an international service organization of executives and professionals that consists of Quota Clubs throughout the world, united in service. One aspect of Quota's service program is focused on raising the public's awareness of help and hope available to individuals with speech and hearing impairments. This is the purpose of the fellowships Quota Clubs provide to individuals at the local level and is available to two specific groups of students.
Eligibility:
§ Individuals with hearing or speech impairments who are currently, or plan to be full time students at any accredited college or university. These individuals may pursue any course of study which leads toward a degree, either at the undergraduate or graduate level.

AES Engineers Scholarships
AES Engineers is pleased to be able to continue providing scholarships to high school seniors or college students (regardless of courses being studied) who meet certain criteria. The $500 scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. Applicants are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

2008-09 AMBUCS Scholarships for Therapists
National AMBUCS is a charitable service association dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities. Due to the assistance therapists provide to people with disabilities, AMBUCS created the AMBUCS Scholarships for Therapists Program to provide financial assistance to needy students studying therapy. Since the start of the program in 1955, AMBUCS has grants over 12,000 scholarships for students studying therapy across the United States.

Army Emergency Relief Scholarship Program
AER is a private nonprofit organization incorporated in 1942 by the Secretary of War and the Army Chief of Staff. AER's sole mission is to help soldiers and their dependents. It is the Army Emergency Relief's objective to ensure all Army Families, active, retired, and survivor, are made aware of the scholarship opportunities available for the spouse and dependent children of soldiers.
MG James Ursano Scholarship
Eligibility:
§ Dependent children, stepchildren or legally adopted children or a ward of Army soldiers on active duty, retired, or deceased while on active duty or after retirement. Children of Reserve or National Guard soldiers mobilized under Title 10 status for the entire academic year. The children of Gray Area Retirees are also eligible

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Scholarships
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) was established in 1978 by members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus as a non-profit, non-partisan educational organization dedicated to developing the next generation of Latino leaders. CHCI's educational services are designed to provide Latino students with the tools and resources they need to succeed in attaining a higher education. Its leadership development programs seek to help participants search for and understand, their identity as professionals, Latinos, and leaders. By bringing together individuals who share a commitment to serve their communities, CHCI endeavors to make its vision of an educated and civic-minded Latino community a reality.
Scholarship Awards
This premier scholarship opportunity is afforded to Latino students who have a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their communities and who plan to continue contributing in the future. There is no GPA or major requirement. Students with excellent leadership potential are encouraged to apply.
Recipients will receive a one-time scholarship of:
§ $5,000 to attend a graduate-level academic institution; or
§ $2,500 to attend a four-year academic institution; or
§ $1,000 to attend a community college or AA/AS granting institution.
§ Undergraduate recipients will also receive a DELL Notebook Computer and Microsoft Package.
CHCI will be responsible for managing the disbursement of the scholarship monies to the recipients. In a two-fold effort to monitor the progress of scholarship recipients and promote college retention, total scholarship monies will be equally divided and distributed on a yearly basis as long as recipients maintain good academic standing (i.e. if you receive the scholarship as an entering freshman, your $2,500 award will be distributed in 4 equal installments of $625 a year). Scholarship awards are designed to cover tuition, room and board, textbooks, and other educational expenses associated with college enrollment.

Frances N. Wimer Recruitment Grant
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is an organization whose purposes are to unite women educators of the world and to advance the professional interests and positions of women in education. The Frances N. Wimer Grant consists of $700 or more to be paid to a rising junior or senior who plans to pursue a teaching career.

The Minorities in Government Scholarship
The Minorities in Government Scholarship of $5000 is available for awarding in 2008 to an upper division undergraduate or graduate student of public administration, political science, economics, finance or business administration (with a specific focus on government or nonprofit management). The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize outstanding performance by minority students preparing for careers in state and local government finance.

- Currently full or part time upper division undergraduate or graduate student in public administration, (governmental) accounting, finance, political science or business administration (with a specific focus on government or nonprofit management).

families. The Scholarships for Military Children Program was
created to recognize the contributions by military families to the
readiness of the fighting force and celebrate the role of the
commissary in the military community. It is the intent of the program that
a scholarship funded through contributions will be awarded annually
for each commissary operated by the Defense Commissary
Agency. The Defense Commissary
Agency and Fisher House Foundation, Inc. wish to thank commissary

Program.
Eligibility:
§ Unmarried children (under the age of 23) of active duty, Reserve/Guard and retired military personnel may apply for a Scholarship for Military Children. Eligibility, including survivors of deceased members, will be determined using the DEERS (Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System) database. Applicants should ensure that they, as well as their sponsor, are currently enrolled in the DEERS database and that they have a current ID card. Applicants can verify if they are enrolled in DEERS by going to www.dmdc.osd.mil and entering their social security number, date of birth, and last name.
§ Applicants must be enrolled, or planning to enroll, full-time in the fall of 2008 in an undergraduate program of studies leading to a Bachelor's Degree at an accredited college or university. They must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 basis).
§ Applicants who receive an appointment to one of the US Military Academies (or affiliated preparatory schools) or are awarded a full scholarship at any accredited US post-secondary institution of higher education are not eligible to receive funds from this program. A full scholarship is usually defined as one that provides for payment of tuition, books, lab fees, and room and board. Further, no scholarships will be awarded to those pursuing an associate degree as their final degree, second undergraduate, or graduate school degree.
§ Applicants who attend or plan to attend a Community or Junior College with the express purpose of earning an Associate Degree are ineligible to receive a scholarship. Students attending a community or junior college must be enrolled in a program of studies designed to allow the student to transfer directly into a four-year program.
Excepting extremely unusual circumstances, the awards cannot be deferred for future use; the awards must be used for educational expenses incurred during the 2008-2009 Academic Year.
The awards are made without regard to race, creed, color, sex, religious belief, national origin, rank or service of the sponsor.

The Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship
The 2008 Frank L. Greathouse Accounting Scholarship of $3500 is available for awarding to one or more undergraduate or graduate students preparing for a career in state and local government finance. The winner will be invited to attend the Government Finance Officers Association annual conference.

- Currently a full time student in undergraduate or graduate accounting program preparing for a career in state and local government finance. Undergraduate students must be in the process of completing at least their junior year by the time the scholarship is awarded.

The George A. Nielsen Public Investor Scholarship
The George A. AGNES COOK VPW Scholarship
Virginia Press Women is proud to offer a $550 scholarship to a deserving Virginia college student interested in pursuing a career in communications. This scholarship is open to male and female students and to undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants must be planning a career in journalism, photo journalism, public relations or another related communication field. However, they do not have to be enrolled in a journalism degree program to qualify, but strong evidence of a commitment to the field of communication is essential. The scholarship is open to any Virginia resident attending an out of state college as well.

2008 NASA MUST Scholarship
The MUST Program supports the best and the brightest students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) disciplines during the early years of their college education while enriching their learning with the MUST Professional Academic Support System (MUST PASS), an academic enrichment, mentoring and career development system. Scholars participate in exciting research opportunities at NASA Centers that will help broaden their career horizons. Students from underrepresented groups in STEM are encouraged to apply.
The program components are the following:
- One-year partial tuition scholarship of up to one-half of a student's tuition and fees, not to exceed $10,000 per academic year. The scholarship is renewable until a student's senior year provided that the student continues to meet all of the eligibility criteria, comply with all program requirements, and submit a renewal application every year which will also require an official transcript and a letter of recommendation.
- MUST PASS (Professional and Academic Support System). MUST PASS is academic enrichment, mentoring, and career development system that offers resources and access to scientific mentors, tutors, graduate students, and professionals during the school year. Scholars receive a dedicated point of contact to obtain additional academic support and tutoring services when needed.
- A maximum stipend of $5,000 to participate in a mandatory summer research experience at a NASA Center. Scholars are considered for an internship at one of ten NASA centers. Selection for a NASA summer research experience is based on a student's career profile and depends on internship availability.
- Students have the opportunity to join a professional association with any of the MUST Consortium organizations which are the Hispanic College Fund, the United Negro College Fund Special Programs and The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. They will also be invited to participate in educational enrichment opportunities including competitions, conferences, graduate school preparation, and professional development.
