Scholarship History:

Established by Dr. Robert McCashin, Director of Orchestras at JMU and his wife Clarine B. McCashin in honor of Samuel G. Cross to support the String Music Education Program at James Madison University.  Over the years, JMU's School of Music realized cash proceeds from the successful operations of the Spring String Thing program.  These proceeds have made funding of the Cross endowment possible.
