Scholarship History: |
Established by Inez Graybeal Roop '35, and her husband, Ralph Goodwin Roop, in November 1995. Inez graduated from the State Teachers College at Harrisonburg (now James Madison University) with a double major in English and History. She was a schoolteacher in Virginia for many years. Inez's involvement with James Madison University has been lifelong. She has served on the Alumni Board of Directors, the Board of Visitors, and was a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Service Award. Ralph Roop is a graduate of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and is a retired businessman. The Roop Scholarship is just one of the many ways Inez and Ralph have shown their commitment to the mission of JMU and its students. Roop Hall is named for them. |
