Scholarship History: |
Established by Margaret Spitzer '37 in August 2001. Margaret lived on Main Street across from the college with her aunt and uncle in the Baker house. Her two sisters also graduated from Madison College, and two of her aunts, Nora and Lucy Spitzer, attended the Normal School in the early years, about 1917. Margaret taught home economics in Rockingham and Shenandoah Counties and in South Norfolk. She moved to Fairfax to become school food services supervisor after attending Virginia Tech for a master's degree in Human Resources. Margaret retired in 1974. She and her sister Alpha joined the Shillelaghs Air Travel Club, and they have many trips to remember. Margaret eventually moved to the Harrisonburg area, where she now lives, and attended the 65th reunion of the class of 1937 in May 2002. |
