Financial Aid News

  • Instructions on how to accept your financial aid can be found at www.jmu.edu/finaid/selfservice.shtml. Parent PLUS loan borrowers please refer to your PLUS award letter for instructions.


  • Our office has began notifying returning students and entering freshmen of their 2009-10 financial aid eligibility. These award notices will be e-mailed to the student’s e-mail account. Entering freshmen will also receive an official Financial Aid Award Notice in the mail.


  • Direct Loans are coming to JMU beginning with the Summer 2009 session. JMU will participate exclusively in the Federal Direct Loan programs. Click here to read more about the changes to all federal student and parent loans.


  • The Spring Newsletter, created especially for current JMU students, is now available! This publication covers many important topics, including summer 2009 financial aid, exit-counseling requirements for May graduates, the FAFSA priority filing date, 2009-10 financial aid awards, and much more.


  • The summer finanical aid instructions and eligibility requirements are now available for you to review. Please let our office know if you have any questions.


  • The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia Blog is an online resource for students and parents who are seeking information about federal and state financial aid.

  • In order to receive financial aid, you must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress(SAP). You can review the requirements to ensure your eligiblity to receive financial aid at JMU.
