Career Tools 2: How to Run a Meeting (Workshop)

This interactive workshop guides participants through a process in which they review meetings they either experienced as participants or plan to run as chairs: What is the purpose of the meeting? What alternative formats are available? How would the agenda look like? How can the meeting achieve its purpose? And, should it be a meeting?

The session then introduces some principles and approaches to create engaging meetings for a range of circumstances, building on practices in agile planning, community building, and the Liberating Structures movement.

Program Dates and Times:

  • Tuesday, 11/14, from 2-3:30pm at Rose Library 5211
  • Wednesday, 11/15, from 9-10:30am
    • Online (The Zoom link will be provided either with the email registration confirmation or by email the day before the event.)

  • Participants will make progress towards building skills that will help them advance their careers.
  • Participants will make progress towards building productive relationships with colleagues.

Our programs are intended for JMU faculty or staff only! If you are a student or administrator and would like to attend, please email cfi@jmu.edu with your request.

Cancellations

If you find that you are unable to attend a scheduled event prior to the registration deadline, please return to your "CFI Program Account" and cancel your registration. If it is after the event registration deadline, please email cfi@jmu.edu as early as possible.

CFI programs will be canceled automatically if JMU is closed for inclement weather.
