2010 Sponsors and Participating Judges
On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff of the JMU School of Engineering, I would like to personally thank our sponsors and our industrial partners for their financial support of “The Fling”. I would also like to especially acknowledge those industrial representatives who volunteered their time and expertise to serve as judges at this year’s event. Without this financial support and these time commitments, we would not be able to provide quality experiences like “The Fling” to our students. A hands-on, design-focused engineering program like ours depends critically on close partnerships with industry and government laboratories. For that continued support and guidance we are very appreciative.”
---Dr. Ronald G. Kander, Director, JMU School of Engineering

Game Day Sponsor
$1000.00
Your name in lights! Not really. Lights are difficult to see in the daytime. Instead, we will include your company name and logo on the main “FLING” banner, (it’s big!) all press releases, on the engineering website, and on the poster which will be used during the 2010-2011 academic school year. Additionally, you will be the sponsor of the first place overall award. (If you really want the lights, we will try to arrange something.)
Tailgate Sponsor
$750.00
Everyone needs a little food to keep them happy and healthy. Who could say no to this? Your company name proudly displayed next to the concessions-for all to see. Doesn’t that make you happy? Additionally, your company information will be included in all press releases, on the engineering website, and displayed on the poster which will be used during the 2010-2011 academic school year. You will also sponsor the second place overall award.
Batter’s Box
$500.00
Your name squared. Your name is aligned with the target. Everyone knows who you are. Everyone steps into the batter’s box. How could you say no? Your company information will be included in all press releases, on the engineering website, and displayed on the poster which will be used during the 2010-2011 academic school year. You will also sponsor the third place overall award.
Trigger Sponsor
$250.00
Please help us stop Dr. Kander from teaching students to throw the Duke Dog. It’s not allowed! (Read the rules.) We are in of need launching devices. Your support will help us purchase the materials to build devices. Your company information will be included in all press releases, on the engineering website, and displayed on the poster which will be used during the 2010-2011 academic school year. You will also sponsor a subcategory award.
Duke Dog Sponsor
$100.00
Do you have any idea what those little stuffed duke dogs go through after one “FLING” competition? They are in such bad shape, that we most certainly have to adopt them out afterward. To put it simply, we need new ones each year. It would make a bad photo op to fling a dog with one eye. Your support will help us greatly. Your company information will be included in all press releases, on the engineering website, and displayed on the poster which will be used during the 2010-2011 academic school year.
Boot Camp Sponsor
Sponsor as you Please
Purchase a board, a screw, a rubber band. Every little bit helps. $1, $5, $10. etc. It’s up to you. Our students really learn from this first time design competition and have a blast doing it. Check out the Freshman Design Video. Whatever amount you sponsor, we will proudly display your information on our engineering website.
