Arts and Culture

“JMU’s Forbes Center for the Performing Arts is central to our community’s quality of life, our economic prosperity, and our cultural and educational affluence. After all, a vibrant cultural climate helps communities attract and retain a skilled and educated workforce and keeps tourists coming back. Years from now, this community will be stronger because of the educational and cultural opportunities provided by the Forbes Center.”

—Cecilia Carter Brown, Executive Director, Arts Council of the Valley
The Forbes Center for the Performing Arts opened in fall 2010 and gives the university a unique opportunity to strengthen its relationships with local businesses, to enhance the cultural life of the community, and to support economic growth and social interaction in the region.
