The Associate Vice Provost for Curriculum oversees the curriculum development process and the production of the catalog. Our office helps faculty develop and modify new and existing programs and courses.

We are currently in the process of implementing a new online curriculum system which will launch in the fall. The link will be posted here once available.

Proposal Assistance

We strongly encourage you to contact our office for assistance to ensure proposals are entered properly. We are happy to walk you through the steps as you submit a proposal. Please email us at curric@jmu.edu to schedule an appointment.

If your proposal is for a new academic program (degree, major, minor), certificate or concentration, please contact the Associate Vice Provost for Curriculum, Paula Maxwell (maxwelpj@jmu.edu), before you begin.

Curriculum Processes

All proposals go through an established curriculum and instruction (C&I) approval process. Proposals for new majors, degree programs, certificate programs, minors and concentrations require additional steps.

Declaration Deadlines

Faculty are strongly encouraged to maintain open/rolling declaration timeframes for their academic programs. If declaration deadlines are deemed necessary, please fill out the following form and submit it to the Associate Vice Provost for Curriculum (maxwelpj@jmu.edu) by March 30.
