Tips for CRC
Trips
Come early .
. .
We're speech consultants, not miracle
workers. Come in at least two days before you give your
speech. That way you have time to make changes to your
presentation.
. . . And come
often
You'll get the most
out of our tutoring expertise if we can focus on one thing at a
time. We can make follow-up appointments after your first
visit.
Don't be camera
shy
Sometimes seeing and hearing yourself is the
best way to improve your delivery. Bring a VHS tape or DVD-R
and we can record you!
Allow yourself
time
Be realistic about how much time you will need, especially if you
are working with a group. A good rule is to reserve twice the
amount of time that it will take to deliver your
presentation.
Bring
stuff
Before your appointment, pack up the essentials--notecards, outline
drafts, research, PowerPoint documents, a copy of your instructor's
syllabus, the assignment description, chocolate chip pancakes--and
bring them with you! The chocolate chip pancakes aren't
essential, but they couldn't hurt.
Remember to
backup
If you want to project your PowerPoint slides, we recommend that
you e-mail them to yourself as well as bringing them on your USB
drive. You can hook up a laptop in the Conference Room, but
not in the Presentation Room.
