So, you're in the U.S.  Now what?

Come learn English at the CDA.  We'll teach you about the culture including all about the American education system and how you can transfer your former career, profession or education to your new life.

ESL - English as a second language - Our leveled classes are designed to ensure adult students advance in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in all topics related to life and work in Virginia. Morning, afternoon and evening classes are offered to suit varied work schedules. Click on "Course Schedule" link to the right for registration times and dates.

We can help you reach your goal...

Typically 15% of CDA students are Internationally Trained Professionals (ITPs) and have university or technical credentials from their home countries. During study with us, students will want to receive career counseling from Emily or Stephen. Additionally, ITPs should have education documents evaluated by a reputable organization (click here for list), contact the professional association and licensure organizations for your specialty field, and begin networking in ways that will help you gain employment in the field of your former career.

CDA is part of the local Immigrant Professionals Community Coalition (IPCC), an informal collaborative group advocating for the dissemination of best practices in ITP support services. The second annual meeting of the IPCC will take place Fall 2013. Organizations serving immigrants may send a representative. Please contact Stephen to be put on the mailing list.
