The Entrepreneurship minor is designed to introduce students from any discipline to the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary for successful new venture creation. The minor is open to students in any major except Management. The minor is 18 credits total: four required and two elective courses. Classes will be taken along with a cohort group as a lock-step program requiring two years to complete.

Application Guidelines

Admission is competitive and limited to a maximum of 30 students per cohort. A completed application form, an unofcial transcript, and a two-minute video pitch based on the applicants entrepreneurial goals are required to apply. Applications open on March 1st and will be accepted until April 1st. Accepted applicants will be notifed via email by May 1st.

Declaration Process

Students in good academic standing who have been accepted into the minor should submit a declaration of minor request via MyMadison.

Graduation Requirement

The General Business Minor requires a minimum 2.0 GPA for graduation on all courses completed at JMU. Transfer credit is not calculated in the GPA.

Students may request permission to count two 3-credit electives from their major as their ENTP electives. Tese courses must be related to innovation and/or entrepreneurship, and must be approved by the ENTP Minor Coordinator in the Management Department.
