Discover SADAH

There are several ways to visit campus and learn more about SADAH’s programs. Guided tours of the school’s facilities, shops, and studio spaces where students develop their art and design skills are available to visitors who register for an official tour or school event.

Open Houses – Admissions offers Academic Open Houses on two Saturdays in the fall. As part of that Academic Open House, SADAH will host an information session and tours of its facilities. See the Admissions Office website for more details and registration.

SADAH Visit Days – SADAH offers special visit days throughout the academic year on certain Friday afternoons. Prospective students will tour Duke Hall and the Studio Design Center, followed by a Q&A session with a SADAH faculty or staff member. Click a date below to register.

On your visit to the School of Art, Design, and Art History at James Madison University, you will see a variety of student spaces, including studios, galleries, woodshops, and more. SADAH is housed in three main buildings and includes three galleries. Learn more about SADAH's facilities:
  • The Memorial Hall Arts Center houses the photography program, complete with traditional darkroom, digital and alternative process labs, and a light and sound studio.
  • The Studio Design Center, renovated in 2015 and 2023, boasts new bookmaking and letterpress equipment, concrete lab, woodshop and casting space, laser cutters and 3D printers, and many designers have their own dedicated workstations.
  • Duke Hall, renovated in 2013, features open spaces flooded with light and a modern aesthetic.
  • Your tour will also take you to the Duke Hall Gallery of Fine Art, ArtWorks Gallery and New Image Gallery.
