Health and Human Services Task Force
Minutes
February 23, 2000
Since Vida Huber was out of town, Janet Gloeckner called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. in Moody Lounge. Other members present were Herb Amato, Jean Dalton, Bill Walker, Craig Abrahamson, Cheryl Beverly, Judy Holt, and Lennie Echterling. Student Paula Neher was present as a participant observer.
Discussion
The group discussed the draft of recommendations for Practicum and Clinical
Education. One point brought up in the discussion is that certain competencies,
such as dissemination, may be shared across disciplines. Community-based multidisciplinary
team projects would provide students with opportunities for both addressing
significant health and human service needs in the community and having meaningful
learning experiences. The group also discussed the idea of a health and human
services clearinghouse for practicum, internship and job placement.
An updated draft concerning outreach programs was presented with several new suggestions and refinements, including a revised rationale, training philosophy, guiding principles, coordination process, and a program development/evaluation model.
Next Meeting
Vida will return next week. The next meeting of the Health and Human Services
Task Force will be Wednesday, March 1, at 4:00 p.m. in Moody Lounge.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Lennie Echterling
