Save money by using Zimride!

Zimride is a fun and easy way to share the seats in your car or catch a ride. With Zimride, you can find JMU friends, classmates, and coworkers going the same way you are—saving you time and money.

Who can use Zimride?

Any JMU student can use JMU Zimride. The system requires a JMU e-ID to gain access. Do not include or in your username.

Have a car? Need a ride?

JMU Zimride helps you offer or request rides for commutes, road trips, and popular events. If you have a car, split costs by offering rides. If you don’t have a car, find rides where you need to go.

Zimride membership is free to JMU students and employees.  The system is closed to permit only those who have a valid JMU e-ID to register; however, JMU does have trusted partnerships with other universities and as a member, you may opt to include them in your ridesharing plans.

There are many Zimride features that enhance the ridesharing experience. As someone seeking a ride:

  • You can include certain criteria (e.g. no smoking, gender preferences, etc.) in your search
  • You can use generalized addresses of your location (e.g., I will be at the corner of x and y streets) instead of giving your complete address.
• You can offer cost-sharing options (e.g., splitting the gas) to the provider, and arrive at an understanding that you mutually agree with before your ride.
  • When a ride match is determined by Zimride you will receive an instant notification and a map showing the route.  You may then choose to accept the ride.
  • Zimride interfaces with Facebook for making fast, convenient searches
  • After your ride you can post your ride experience notes on the Zimride site for other members to see.
