We all know that exercise (and nutrition) is the key to a healthy body, but did you know that exercise has a huge impact on the brain?  In this session we will discuss research on the topic and talk in depth about Dr. John Ratey’s book “Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain” and how you can harness the power of exercise to be better!  We’ll also identify resources available to you on campus to make an improvement or a change in your life! Be prepared to get up and move around.

In this workshop we will:

  • Describe the basic principles of the research related to exercise and the brain
  • Discuss possible treatments to anxiety, depression and stress using exercise
  • Discuss how exercise effects the aging process
  • Develop a plan to change your routine to benefit your mental health
