The purpose of this session is to motivate participants to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, in adequate portion sizes, so that they can obtain the associated health benefits.  We will review the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines to Americans in the context of fruit, vegetable and fiber intake recommendations. In addition, we will have a conversation about how to deal with possible challenges, and tips for achieving an adequate intake of fruits and vegetables in the long term. 

In this workshop, participants will: 

  • Review the many health benefits of incorporating a variety of fruits and vegetables consistently into the dietary pattern

  • Review the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans in regards to recommended fruit, vegetable and fiber intake
  • Discuss potential challenges of increasing fruit and vegetable intake and how to overcome them
