Job Description: 

As a Pre-School Instructor, you will:

  • Plan and implement pre-school classes, activities, programs, and services.
  • Instruct children in physical, social development, and readiness skills.
  • Prepare facilities and materials for program.
  • Receive, process, and file applications.
  • Prepare and maintain files and records, including applications.
  • Enroll program participants.
  • Enforce program and activity rules and regulations.
  • Assist with the cleaning and maintaining of facility and equipment.
  • Receive visitors, answer questions, and provide information about programs and activities.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 18 years of age or older, required.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain CPR/first aid and medication administration certification within 30 days from hire date.

The City's pre-school program is licensed under the Commonwealth of Virginia as a daytime child care center, and candidates must meet minimum standards as set forth by the Department of Education.

Availability to work Mondays - Fridays from 8:30am - 12:30pm from mid-August to mid/late May each year, required. Two of these shifts each week will require the incumbent to work additional hours (from 12:30pm until 3:00pm) for planning sessions. Salary
Preferred hiring range of $14.77 - $16.99 per hour.
