Description

Duties:

Assisting lead teachers in planning and implementing the daily program including:

  • Treating each child with dignity and respect.
  • Recognizing and considering the individual needs of each child in relation to cultural and socio-economic background, disabilities, special talents and interest, style and pace of learning.
  • Helping children learn to think creatively, to solve problems independently, and to respect themselves and others.
  • Supervising the classroom according to the plans of the teacher when the teacher is absent.
  • Helping the Teacher to set up activities, clean up, and general preparation for daily activities.
  • Helping with preparations and setting up of snacks as well as clean-up.
  • Assisting the Director and Teachers in other appropriate ways.
  • Maintaining professional attitudes, behavior, and dress at all times while on duty.
  • Participating in professional trainings that work for the improvement of early childhood education. j Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding children and their families.
  • Generally promoting a good rapport among staff members.
  • Sharing with the Teachers the responsibility of maintaining clean classrooms and center.
  • Assisting and supervising children as needed with classroom projects and bathroom breaks.
  • Assisting and supervising children and maintaining staff-to-children ratios during outside recess, field trips, and emergency situations.
  • Be familiar and knowledgeable of preschool policies and procedures set forth in the handbooks.
  • Attending all staff meetings, programs and trainings sponsored by the center.
  • Assist children who arrive late and those that must leave early.
  • Helping to maintain a warm, clean atmosphere for parents in the general areas (entrance, classrooms, and bathrooms) of the preschool and in the areas seen by staff (office, bell tower, outbuilding, other storage, etc.)

We offer classes for children from infants to PreK.

Requirements:

We will require you to pass a fingerprint background check, central registry check, & TB screening in addition. Onboarding training as well as annual training as required by Virginia Department of Education. Be a team player, and have good attendance.
