Description

Duties:

Single mom looking for a caretaker for 11-year-old son with Autism and Down Syndrome

My sweet William just turned 11 years old! Although 11, he is developmentally around 20 months or so and is non-verbal. He needs help with feeding, bathing, dressing, and requires constant attention as he has no concept of danger or things that could hurt him. He enjoys being taken on walks, playing in the backyard or parks, pools, water play, and loves his TV time! We also do ABA therapy with him in the home (since COVID) which at this time involves mostly therapeutic play.

William is an active little guy so strength and patience are a primary necessity! He also has a compromised immune system, so we would need his caretaker to commit to serious social distancing and mask-wearing when outside of our home as they would become part of our little family unit.

This would be a great job for new graduates with degrees in Special Ed, OT, PT, Speech or ABA therapy. However, a degree in those fields is not required.

I can offer 20-35 hours a week. Hourly wage is paid through a waiver thought the state of Virginia. Background check required.

I'm happy to give YOU references too! We have had many caregivers from JMU who have become like family over the years. I'm sure any of them would be happy to give you the "inside scoop" on our little family!
