Dr. Campbell

David Campbell, Boston University, is a Professor of Physics and Electrical Engineering. Previously, he has served as provost of BU (2005-2012), provost ad interim (2004-2005), and Dean of BU's College of Engineering (2000 - 2004). Campbell received his bachelor's degree in physics and chemistry from Harvard University in 1966, and his Ph.D. in theoretical physics and applied mathematics from the University of Cambridge, UK, in 1970. He was the founding editor of the journal Chaos, which deals with the field of nonlinear science. 

In his talk, "Back to the Future: Recovering the 'Age of Wonder,'" Dr. Campbell shared some recent developments aimed at re-invigorating the art/science and humanities/science interactions, including a forthcoming conference being sponsored by the National Academies Keck Foundation Initiative (NAKFI) on exactly this topic. He also gave some examples of art/science interactions from his own research in physics.
