Christie-Joy Brodrick Hartman, Ph.D.

Prior to joining JMU over ten years ago, CJ Hartman worked for the Institute of Transportation Studies, University of California-Davis. Her work has evolved from vehicle-level emissions, energy, and performance analysis to full-fuel-cycle, systems analysis that focuses on the interconnections of real-world operations, vehicle design, fuels, policies, and, most recently, consumers.  She has twice received the Society of Automotive Engineers Excellence in Oral Presentation Award.  At JMU, she has been recognized as the College of Integrated Science and Technology Outstanding Junior Faculty Member and Faculty Friend of the Year.  CJ holds a B.S. from California Polytechnic State University in Environmental Engineering, an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California-Davis, and a Ph.D. in Transportation Technology and Policy from the University of California-Davis.

Melissa Altman

Melissa Altman has worked for many different non-profit organizations in grants and outreach, including the Toledo Museum of Art, COSI (a hands-on science museum), David's House (an HIV service organization), and the Center for Regional Development at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). She holds a Master of Arts in American Culture Studies from BGSU, where she is a Ph.D. candidate as well. Her research interests include the co-construction of race, gender, and sexual orientation in online social networks, masculine anxiety in popular culture, and privilege and difference in mediated communication.

Amanda Bodle

With a combination of public policy and environmental communications experience, Amanda Bodle has worked on a range of environmental initiatives, including water conservation and watershed protection, sustainable urban and metropolitan agriculture, and children’s environmental health. Her focus is on encouraging behavior changes and environmental stewardship through outreach, education and communication. Amanda holds a B.A. in Political Science from Indiana University.
