Meet Rachel Lipscomb, BSW 2014!

Rachel was recently honored as the Virginia chapter of the National Association of Social Worker’s 2015 Student of the Year.  The conference took place at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamburg, where Rachel was honored at a luncheon attended by over 300 social workers from across the state.  Rachel spoke to the crowd about her love for helping others, the inspiration from her mother and the quality education she received at JMU!  After the video played, the room was on its feet, applauding Rachel’s service as an exemplar of the profession.

She was nominated for this award by Professor Cindy Hunter who was Rachel’s advisor and arranged her placement at the Staunton Community Services Board.  In the nomination, she recognized Rachel “for deep understanding of social work and her determination to be the best worker she can be!”  Please watch the video to hear more about Rachel and her many accomplishments as a BSW student at JMU!
