Art History and Museum Studies

The Art History and Museum Studies area provides services and resources to SADAH and the university at large; it is located on the first floor of Duke Hall in suite 1033.

Equipment for check-out: Students and faculty can check out tripods, projectors, slide scanners, presentation remotes, laptops and various cables.

Computer lounge: Students can use the large flatbed scanner and five iMac workstations equipped with Adobe Suite, Pay-for-Print printers, and art journals and reference materials. SADAH students and faculty can have library materials delivered and returned here. SADAH students have card-swipe access to the lounge 24 hours a day.

Digital art curation: Staff upload images and information into Madison Digital Image Database (a searchable collection of high-resolution digital images and videos) to create presentation slideshows. Students and faculty can curate art, browse more than 120,000 images and compare images side-by-side. Students can even print out flashcards of an instructor’s presentations for review. Created at JMU, MDID is used at more than 100 institutions worldwide.

SADAH students also have access to ARTstor Digital Library, a repository of over 1.5 million digital images in the arts, architecture, humanities and sciences.
