We invite you to attend one of our upcoming discussions or focus groups!

For Students

You are invited to participate in a focus group to provide your insights into retention, equity, and use of student data at JMU: https://qepstudentfocusgroups.questionpro.com

JMU is beginning to research and design a new early alert system. This system is intended to improve student success and retention by connecting students with different resources on-campus. It can also be used to identify places within JMU that might be creating roadblocks or slowing student success.

We are seeking your input to help design and implement the system. Your insights will also help us identify student groups who are succeeding or struggling at inequitable rates. Some questions you may be asked include:

  • What has helped you be successful at JMU and what gets in the way of your success?
  • How can student data be used to help with retention? What student data should be used?
  • How can we partner with you as students in the design and use of an early alert system?

If interested, please review the consent form, and register for a focus group that pertains the most to your experience using this link: https://qepstudentfocusgroups.questionpro.com

As a thank you, participants will be given the choice of a meal voucher valid at any JMU campus dining options, a JMU Bookstore coupon, or a JMU branded item.

Thank you for your interest and input. More information about the QEP Working Group efforts can be found here: https://www.jmu.edu/sacscoc/qep.shtml

For Faculty and Staff

The QEP Working Group invites you to take part in a virtual focus group discussion to provide perspectives on student retention and the use of student data.

As a part of our initial research, we are reaching out to key stakeholders who may have experience and/or insights into student success and retention, equity-based retention gaps, and the potential role of student data. Your input will be used to guide the design of a comprehensive early alert system to improve retention and close equity gaps at JMU. Upcoming focus group opportunities are listed below.

A round of focus groups were conducted in Fall 2021. Spring 2022 opportunities are listed below.

Please complete this form to indicate your availability for a focus group based on your campus role: https://jmu.questionpro.com/t/AUK6UZqWyc
