James Madison University will be offering a Campus Compact Engagement Fellowship Position as part of the 2019-2020 Engagement Fellowship Cohort. This position provides support for Outreach & Engagement in its partnership with Campus Compact for Virginia by providing enhanced communication and marketing, organizational support, streamlined systems processing, and other duties as assigned.

Established in 2017, Campus Compact for Virginia (CCVA) aims to integrate civic work and learning into the curriculum and operations of its diverse network of colleges and universities, so students graduate with the determine and capacity to contribute to the public good throughout their lives-and higher education institutions are fully engaged with their communities, working together to educate citizens, solve problems, and build a strong democracy.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in outreach and maintenance of CCVA membership;
  • Conduct online web searches and basic research;
  • Maintain CCVA website, general mail, and monthly newsletter;
  • Update and maintain CCVA's databases;
  • Help plan and implement CCVA events;
  • Assist the CCVA Director with preparing for presentations; reports and other events;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must understand, exhibit, and promote the mission and services of Campus Compact for Virginia;
  • Able to communicate well in-person and make professional appearance virtually;
  • Must be skilled in all major forms of social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and listserv platforms);
  • Must be able to launch and maintain basic event planning tasks;
  • Willing to be trained in deliberative dialogues and other topics related to Campus Compact for Virginia;
  • Must have substantial skills and knowledge in United States history and social justice issues;
  • Needs to be a self-starter and complete projects in a timely manner; and
  • Be a critical and strategic thinker.
