Ashley Burgess is a shareholder at the law firm of Sands Anderson PC, and serves as the practice group chair of the Business Group in Richmond, Virginia.  He concentrates his practice on business formation and complex transactions, as well as business litigation, representing individuals and businesses before judges and juries in state and federal courts. Ashley's experience includes business transactions, entity formation and restructuring, acquisitions, creditor's rights and commercial collections, protection of creditor claims in bankruptcy, lien enforcement, shareholder disputes, fraud claims, trust and estate disputes, real estate contests, and breach of contract actions. Ashley was listed in Super Lawyers of Virginia as a Rising Star in Business/Corporate and Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights. He was also listed among Virginia Business magazine's Legal Elite for Business Law. Ashley worked as a law clerk with Sands Anderson during the Summer of 2003 and joined the firm directly from law school.  His experience also includes a clerkship with the Pennsylvania Governor's Office of General Counsel, as well as serving as a judicial intern in the Circuit Court for the County of Henrico, Virginia. Ashley is a 1999 graduate of James Madison University, earning his B.S., magna cum laude. He graduated from the George Mason University School of Law, where he was Research Editor of the George Mason Civil Rights Law Journal. Ashley hails from Northumberland County in the Northern Neck of Virginia.
