Class of 2017

Physics major, Astronomy and Mathematics minor

Mount Airy, MD

Hey everyone! My name is Kenny Gordon. I grew up in the small town of Mount Airy, Maryland and am a Physics major in the class of 2017 with minors in Astronomy and Mathematics. Post-graduation from JMU, I plan to pursue my master’s, and hopefully my doctorate, in Astrophysics. My end goal is to conduct astrophysical research. It has always been my dream to work for a space organization such as NASA, SpaceEx, or the John Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, among others.

Ever since I could remember, I have been fascinated by astronomy – gazing up at the stars at night, attempting to learn all of the constellations, trying to wrap my head around the vastness of our universe. Naturally, I became interested in the John C. Wells Planetarium upon coming to JMU and was finally able to get involved during Space Explorers Camps in the summer of 2015.  I then started working Saturday shows in the Fall 2015 semester.  I am excited to share my passion for space with the JMU and Harrisonburg communities. My hope is that, through my star talks and teaching, our audiences will see how amazing the universe really is and come to love astronomy as much as I have!
